eBay is a relevant channel for retailers, manufacturers and wholesalers throughout the product lifecycle, with opportunities right through from gaining additional sales volume for new, in-season goods to selling overstock or refurbished items. Every business is unique and thus will use eBay in different ways, but some core steps and information are essential for any retailer looking to get started.
Bringing your business onto eBay: checklist
- Register a seller account
- Understand some essential background information before starting
- Decide how you are going to create your listings on eBay
- Build your brand using an eBay store
- Understand how your reputation affects your success on eBay
- Make use of tools to better manage your listings, sales and reporting
There are a few tips to bear in mind when creating an account for business purposes:
- Ensure that the e-mail address registered to the account is one that will handle questions/concerns from buyers
- A credit card will be required to register, but there are many payment options, so may not be how invoices are actually paid
- The user ID of an account must not replicate the initial portion of your e-mail account (i.e. buyandsave@anonlineretailer.com.au cannot have a user ID of buyandsave)
- The name on the registration should match your company name
