Manage your account

  • Communicate with other eBay members
  • Leave feedback for your trading partners

If you are a seller, managing your account involves paying eBay selling fees.

Being an eBay account member involves benefits and responsibilities. These benefits and responsibilities are an important part of the safe and successful eBay experience.

A member account for a buyer

With a member account you can:

Responsibilities:

  • Keep your account safe by using the guidance in protect your eBay account
  • If you suspect your account has been tampered with, refer to Securing your account and follow the instructions immediately
  • Make sure you use a payment method that is accepted by eBay, and check whether the payment method offers any coverage in the unlikely event that something goes wrong

A member account for a seller

When you start selling on eBay:

  • You are charged selling fees
  • Your member account becomes a seller account
  • You receive invoices from eBay

With a seller account you can:

Responsibilities:

  • As a seller you need to pay your invoice balance in full each month
    • This will keep your account current
  • Your payment due date is determined by when eBay generates your invoice
    • Either the 15th of the month or the last day of the month

How do I change my credit/debit card information?

Add a credit or debit card to your eBay seller’s account:

  1. Click the My eBay button at the top of most eBay pages
  2. Sign in
  3. Click the Personal Information link under the My Account section
  4. Go to Financial Information
  5. Click the Edit link to the right of the credit card information
  6. For security purposes, you will be asked to sign in again
  7. Complete the credit card information page and click the Continue button
  8. After reading the Credit Card Usage Agreement, click the Authorise Credit Card button

Verify your current credit or debit card information:

  1. Click the My eBay button at the top of most eBay pages
  2. Sign in if required
  3. Click the Personal Information link under the My Account section
  4. Go to the Financial Information section
  5. Click the Edit link to the right of the credit card information

Change or update your credit or debit card information:

  1. Click the My eBay button at the top of most eBay pages
  2. Sign in if required
  3. Click the Personal Information link under the My Account section
  4. Go to the Financial Information section
  5. Click the Edit link to the right of the credit card information
  6. For security purposes, you will be asked to sign in again
  7. Complete the Credit Card Information page
  8. Click the Continue button
  9. Read the Credit Card Usage Agreement
  10. Click the Authorise Credit Card button

Remove a credit or debit card from your account:

Please contact us if you want to remove a credit or debit card from your account. Doing this will:

  • Remove credit/debit card or bank account information
  • Close your seller's account and make it inactive

How do I change my contact information?

  • From My eBay you can change:
    • Registered name
    • Address – includes payment and shipping addresses
    • Telephone number
    • Email address – you will need access to the updated email address to complete the process

To change your contact information:

  1. Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages
  2. Go to the left column of My eBay, under My Account
  3. Click the Personal Information link
  4. The Personal Information page will display
  5. On the right side of the page click the Edit or Add link next to the information you want to update
  6. Change information as needed
  7. Click the Save button

How do I close my eBay account?

If you’re considering closing your eBay account please contact us. Perhaps there’s something we can do to change your mind.

Once you close your account:

  • It can’t be reopened
  • You won’t be able to access any part of eBay that requires an account
  • Your Feedback Profile will no longer be available

If you only want to close your seller account or remove credit card or bank account information, contact us.

Before closing your account review the following important information 

  • Waiting period
    • If you've listed or bid on an item recently eBay imposes a waiting period of up to 180 days before closing your account
    • During the waiting period you won't be able to:
      • Bid
      • Make purchases
      • List items
      • Change your contact information
    • You'll still have access to your account information
  • Account closure confirmation
    • When the waiting period is over
      • You'll receive an email confirming that your account has been closed
        • After this you will not be able to access any part of eBay that requires an account
        • Your feedback profile will no longer be available to other members
        • You might receive email from eBay for up to two weeks after closing your account
        • After two weeks eBay will not contact you, except to collect outstanding fees if your account has not been fully paid
  • Suspended account
    • Accounts that are suspended may not be closed until all matters have been resolved
  • Account balance
    • Be sure there is no balance remaining in your account
  • Feedback
    • The feedback you've left for other users will not be deleted when you close your account
    • If your User ID is your email address, you may wish to change your User ID before requesting account closure
  • Data retention
    • eBay will retain personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy
    • This is necessary to:
      • Comply with laws
      • Prevent fraud
      • Collect any fees owed
      • Resolve disputes
      • Troubleshoot problems
      • Assist with any investigations
      • Enforce our eBay User Agreement
      • Take other actions otherwise permitted by law

To close your account permanently, please submit a formal request to close your account.

How do I close my eBay Store?

  1. Go to My eBay at the top of any eBay page
  2. Sign in if prompted
  3. Go to My Account in the left column
  4. Click the Subscriptions link
  5. Under Active Subscriptions click on the Unsubscribe link for eBay Stores
  6. You'll be asked to confirm your decision before your subscription is ended

Please note:

  • Any unused portion of the subscription fee will be refunded to your eBay account balance on your next invoice
  • All of your Store Inventory listings will end
